Velvet Sun Drops A Lush New Single

A new single release from Velvet Sun brings out a refreshing and bright pop-rock and indie vibe that blends these rock aesthetics with a smooth flow and an almost vast tonality that gives it a dream-like effect.
"Wait" features guitar tones that remind me of an almost post-punk feel. I love that because they are lush and a bit full-bodied but still have a thinness to them at the same time. It's like they have a chorus-style effect that adds to the flow and dreamscape element of the track.
One of my favorite aspects of this song is how the vocals are performed because there are two different ways it's done. You have the vocals that are on the forefront. The ones you pay attention to the lyrics with and tell the story.
These vocals are very well performed, adding a little bit of color to the already pop-rock style track, and the texture of how they balance out with those guitars feels good when you listen to it.
The other vocal approach is distanced and almost in the background using a Reverb style effect, and these are floaty and hover around in the song's ether, so it helps create this atmosphere that you end up really getting engulfed in.
I get a little nostalgic listening to this song because I grew up listening to a lot of semi-underground or even radio pop-rock songs with this aesthetic to them.
That aesthetic is completely nailed here and you can tell that there are a lot of great influences that this project uses to fuel the songwriting, but it's also about the mix.
Again, there are some great effects on the guitars in the vocals that really lend a hand to the atmosphere it delivers. Plenty of that actually has to do with how the song was mixed.
There's a balance to be achieved here dynamically and it's done damn near perfectly with this single.
There is a section before the final chorus where a bit of a breakdown occurs, and you have this great expansive guitar section with delays and overdubs, it seems. This section adds to that atmosphere so well because not only does it fit in perfectly. It adds another layer to that texture I mentioned earlier.
This section was almost expected and I felt very satiated once it kicked in.
There is something warm and almost welcoming about this track, which could be because of the nostalgic essence that I get from it, but I could also be just because it has that sort of tone to it.
It's a beautiful song that blends in personality, color, and a little hint of edginess, along with taking the indie rock, pop rock, and slight post-punk undertones to create something that feels like home.
I really love a song that breeds that bigger, vaster undertone but still has a pop Overcoat so you can sing along with it after the first few times but still swim through it as well.
Velvet Sun is a band that started back in 2001, and the "Wait" single, as we can tell, is part of a four-track EP called Empire.
You can hear the years of influence and experience when you listen to this track.
This was brilliantly done and I will certainly be keeping an eye on this project from here on out.
Pop some headphones on and listen to this track so you can hear everything that's going on, soak in the layers, and see what kind of feelings it evokes for you.
