A New Alt-Pop Single from Uncle Daddy
A new single release from Uncle Daddy delivers a refreshing and edgy pop tonality that comes with a vast undertone which builds this sort of cinematic atmosphere in a way, and throughout it all, it boasts this massive and lush character which is something that you end up latching on to the most.
"Blood" is the track that feels like something you'd hear at the end of the night at a club or in the end credits of a horror flick. It's got this slight hot to it and again, this edginess that hits a little bit of a dark tonality but also has some color to it as well.
One of the things that really blows my mind about this track is its ability to bend genres at free will. The track has a dream pop undertone, but an alternative pop overcoat, and along with that, you get these bouts of indie soundscapes and tonalities and all of it seems to come together seamlessly.
This is something that I adore because it's a song that comes out with fewer boundaries than you may be used to and blending subgenres of pop is a brilliant idea and probably where the genre is headed anyway.
Throughout this track, you have these almost orchestral and very distant synth pads that add a lot of depth and spaciousness to the song's underbelly. This is actually where some of that cinematic haunt comes from as well because the textures and tones they use for those synths have an almost gothic feel.
Overlapping that you have a really crisp sort of beat that feels almost glitchy at times, and takes a slightly 90's approach and blends it into this current feel.
You also have these guitar sections that come in and out giving the song a little bit of alternative rock here and there and I think that fits perfectly with the edginess and that overtone that the song boasts.
As soon as the track starts off you sort of get pulled right into this atmosphere and once you're there you simply don't want to leave.
This song definitely pays a lot of attention to detail during its creation, but it also has this sort of personality and, as I mentioned earlier, character to it, and that's what sticks throughout its course.
The vocal approach is great because those vocals are almost used like instruments themselves. They bend and sway. I think all together, this track really showcases the group's ability to create something that has no walls built around it and was done for the sheer passion of doing it.
This is an alternative pop song that doesn't conform to any norms or expectations. I feel like this is why it's so good.
When you listen to it you will understand what I mean when I say cinematic because, again, it does have this sort of horror movie tonality to it and I really like that because it comes through expansive and just big.
An amazing combination of textures and flows. The guitars with the synths, keys, and beats all sound amazing together and the vocals really thicken up the track and add that extra little flavor to it that lets everything wrap itself around you and keep you right where it wants to.
This track was like an escape because it pulls you away from whatever you're doing and puts you in a different place altogether.
There's something almost graceful about this song's approach and how it has a natural and forward moving flow to it.
This of course adds to that whole dreaminess I mentioned earlier as well. It does feel like drifting through a dream and all the notes that bend and weave in and out of each other sort of hold on to you and let you float right alongside them.
This was quite a brilliant track and it really speaks volumes for the group and how they are pulling tracks together that are delightfully unexpected and their tonality and their approach.
Take a listen to this one and do so with headphones on because it's one of the best ways to soak in everything that's going on in the track.
