The Empty Pages Drop An Addictive Rock EP

10071-image0-17475977040246.jpeg

An EP release from The Empty Pages brings together a slew of rock influences that range from classic hard rock, blues, pop-rock, and more, all rolled into one EP that delivers loads of personality but also a bit of southern undertone and some amazing guitar work to boot.

It Is What It Is is the record that certainly doesn't waste much time getting you hooked with it, the first track, "Fault Lines".

The single delivers some great guitar work, including harmonies, classic grooves, and a bit of vivaciousness, which seem to be some staples that run through the veins of the full EP itself.

This is also part of why it's such a great song to introduce the record with.

Even though this first track introduces some of the staples of the record, there are more than a few surprises around its corners, and this is certainly the type of release that you want to listen to in full from start to finish all at once.

The vocals shine with this amazing presence and add such color and a bit of animation to the record as well, and the style of singers like David Lee Roth, for example.

This was an absolutely fun banger of a single and got me pulled right into the record.

The track that follows is called "Full Time Man", and this has a different rhythm, guitar approach, and a certain kind of breeziness to it that feels sunny, warm, and fun.

This is a very danceable track and showcases some of the whimsical or loose elements of the band so that you get the idea that, although this is some great songwriting, the band doesn't take everything overly seriously.

You can clearly hear they're having a lot of fun doing their thing, and that kind of energy shows true and clear through the whole release.

This is something I have to touch on. The energy level is outstanding. It almost feels like these songs were recorded live on the floor so that everyone involved could feed off of each other's energies the entire time they tracked it.

Of course, I wasn't there so I'm I might be completely wrong about that however, listening to the record certainly makes you want to go see them perform it live simply because, if they can capture this kind of energy and aesthetic on record so well then seeing them perform it live in your face must be awesome.

The third track is called "Thank You", which takes a completely different turn and gives you this vintage in classic style soulful songwriting approach. The whole performance is a bit more serious, but it has this amazing soul to it all.

This was a warming track that beckons classic blues and even doo-wop songwriting at times, which was portrayed amazingly because they were able to capture this aesthetic that felt like rock but also like vintage soul music.

This kind of blew my mind because I just wasn't expecting it.

This is what I mean by surprises. There are all kinds of fun stuff and surprising attributes that come through in the record.

This is exactly why listening to one or two tracks from this EP simply won't do. Listening to the full ep is the only way you get the actual spectrum of what the record has to offer.

The vibe and aesthetic of this EP are infectious. Not only do you get pulled into this particular kind of atmosphere that they deliver, but you want to get up and dance around to it.

This is a record that hits a slew of rock influences but really has this specific soundscape and feel to it that lets you know they have a real love for their craft.

When I say that, I don't just mean singing or playing their instruments, I mean writing songs together.

This was an absolute blast of an EP, and again, I suggest you listen to it from start to finish because it's the best way to soak it in.

Get ready to be a bit surprised at times, but overall, have a great time.

Take a listen to this record as soon as you can.
