BUTTONZ Drops the Rebirth EP

BUTTONZ returns with a long-awaited EP that features an array of outstandingly beautiful and layered textures and soundscapes that mend together and create a robust, edgy, driving, and vast set of songs that fit together like pieces of a puzzle.
The Rebirth EP is built on the foundations of electronic music as it takes some of the best parts of genres like dubstep, break, EDM, trans, electro-pop, and even elements of dance and house here and there.
This is a futuristic-feeling record, and no two songs are alike, but there is a thematic confluence throughout it all, so you get a staple feel with this record.
This EP creates an atmosphere and really has a particular way of grabbing you and pulling you into that atmosphere as the music surprises, surrounds, and comes at you from all angles.
As you dive into this onslaught of digitally driven electronic, bass, and dubstep sounds, you begin with an introduction that serves as the calm before the storm in a certain way.
This gives you a feeling of some of the vast undertones that exist in other tracks but serves more as an introduction to what you're about to dive into.
"Ghetto Dope" comes right in after that intro, and as soon as it kicks in, you get a huge sound. You can tell the sonic presence will be massive throughout this record because this track alone delivers so much of it right at the start that you forget about everything else.
The track delivers a hard-hitting brake and dubstep feel with elements of hip pop that peaks its head out from just beneath the surface.
The next track, "Need You" bring some more of that expansive underbelly with new and refreshing synths, keys, and tones that add new layers to the soundscapes and refrain from getting too heavy and hard until the second half of the track when some more of that thick synth-driven dubstep starts kicking in.
It does this with vocal samples and things floating around that add more overtone and really bring it together perfectly.
The following track is the title of the record. "Rebirth" seamlessly combines that calm and expansive element with the heavy and edgy elements as well.
The song ties in new instrumentation, including piano, guitar, saxophone, and more, but it does so in a scattered way. You get this jazz vibe and aesthetic along with the electronic sound, so this is one that you can just swim through, and it feels amazing.
This track hints more towards some of the edgier and heavier stuff but doesn't really get to an experimental dubstep style until the very end.
This is my favorite track on the record by far. It is the most experimental and layered song on the record, and it's something that stays with you after it's ended.
The next track, "No One Above You" brings on a reggae Rhythm and vibe and expands from there while sticking with this colorful and vibrant appeal and approach.
The final track on the release is an amazing one, and it's called "Interlock 27" which features vocalist Whitney Waz, who does an amazing job of adding that final sense of beauty, flow, and texture to this single.
It's so cool to have such a mix of natural and digital instrumentation coming together, not only on the single track because of her singing but throughout the record. Again, other instruments are natural and blend into the electronic elements, so you have a full-bodied atmosphere to float around in and soak up.
This is a banger of a song and does an outstanding job of closing the record out.
This was an EP of vast proportions that brought together such a wonderfully woven approach to producing, arrangement, and soundscape utilizing so many textures to build and create something that has a vibe and aesthetic you can hold on to.
A brilliant release from BUTTONZ and Grand Alliance Music.
