Becky Raisman Returns With A Warm and Welcoming EP
An EP release from Becky Raisman spans several genres and approaches and comes through with such a buoyant message that the whole thing feels colorful, welcoming, and musically eclectic but still with this glue that keeps the songs together.
The Peace, Love and Harmony EP is a release that brings together such warmth and it starts with the first track called "Feeling Groovy" which blends a classic rock and reggae approach, and it works so well because it feels like it's a band recording it all live on the floor.
There's an energy level that feels like everyone involved was feeding off of each other the entire time and so the song has this brightness and electric energy attached to it that is just completely addictive right from the start.
The guitar tones on this track are epic because they also add to that sort of vintage and classic rock, 1970s style tonality and the way that Becky approaches the vocals on this one is excellent because her melodies really blend with the music but the tone of her singing also works incredibly well with those guitars and drumming.
The following track is called "Love Revolution" and this one has much more of a driving, dance pop style to it with inventive synths and keys along with a more heavy-handed vocal approach where she gets a little more intense and a little louder.
This is something I really enjoyed because I wasn't expecting it and when I first listened to this record I didn't realize how he collected the songwriting would be.
After listening to the entire thing, I'm super delighted about how eclectic the songwriting was because again, even though there are three different styles of songs here, there is still that confluent undertone to everything and that is because of Becky and how she sings.
This track also delivers a danceable and fun approach that feels a bit bubbly but also has great melodies and hooks that kind of stick with you for a long time after the song has ended.
The third track in line is called "Harmony Blooms" and this track has a warm and soft acoustic, folk, and singer-songwriter approach to it that works wonderfully with her vocals as well because when she sings it she doubles her tracks a lot. So when she records, she does two or three vocal tracks and uses them all in the song so you get a bigger and lusher feel.
She does this with all of her songs but it works the best on this one because it's an acoustic track that has a classic folk undertone to it so there's less actual music going on. There are fewer layers of textures and different instruments happening. It's more stripped down.
Because it is more stripped down, you can have these layered vocals take a different effect and it lets you pay more attention to the lyrics and this gives you glimpses into her personality.
The entire EP gives you great clips into her personality and this one spreads such a welcoming message as I mentioned earlier.
This was so enjoyable and so colorful, vibrant, and charismatic, that you kind of don't want it to end.
I was definitely impressed by the range of songwriting styles and approaches that she has within those three songs and how each one really represented her message and her personality so well.
I would imagine that's not an easy thing to do but Becky seems to pull this off without a hitch.
I would most certainly listen to this record and, we have been fans of Becky Raisman for quite a few years now and I can tell you personally that you should also go back and listen to a lot of her previous releases as well. She's got some great stuff from 2022 and last year that all show her evolution as a songwriter and as a person.
Check this out as soon as you can and listen to the EP as a whole. Listening to one song off this record will give you nowhere near the full spectrum of what it has to offer.
See how this affects you.
