A beautiful new single by Anna May comes through with an impactful and honest approach and a performance that bears some soul and lets her presence as an artist come through powerfully but with her own style and this does an amazing job of showcasing her character as a person and as an artist.
"Freedom of Love" is a track that lets you dig into Anna May and her personality as you can tell this track comes from a genuine experience and has a very lush emotional drive to it which makes it all the more authentic.
One of the main reasons I love this track so much is because it has this stripped-down approach with just an acoustic guitar and vocals and when you listen to the song, not only do you get the vibe of a one-on-one and very personal live performance, but you end up getting wrapped up in the lyrics and the soundscape of it all.
The song is indeed a lot of performance recorded in studio and the music video that accompanies the song showcases this factor but the thing that gets you is its completely flawless performance.
Her guitar performance and vocal performance both have heart and she has a wonderful way of sort of wearing that on her sleeves and giving it to the world to soak in how they may.
This is a beautiful thing because you don't get this level of persona or character all the time so when you do it's very refreshing and you're able to soak it in.
This track is a massive one and spans almost 9 minutes in length but in a way, you just never wanted to end and this is because the way it's given to you is so passionate, and graceful that you're able to get washed away with everything by the end of the song.
This is the kind of music that makes you think and makes you feel and to me, it's the kind of music we need more of in the world right now.
The song has a freeing element to it but also one that tells a story so you're able to pick up on all these different elements of her portrayal of that story and when the song ends you feel like you know her better as a person, but you also feel like you just walked out of that live performance and it affected you.
For the full 9 minutes, this track had my attention and I ended up just floating through the song as it swam around in the air that surrounded me because it was so beautiful that I couldn't pay attention to anything else while it was happening.
I'm just a bit blown away by how perfect this performance came through and how her level of intensity was able to stay at such a balanced place but also remain impactful a lot of the time.
The best way to listen to the song is indeed to watch the music video and you're able to pick up on a lot of the wonderful presents that anime delivers and a lot of the character that comes along with it.
These are the things that we get attached to when we find an artist like this and I enjoyed every second of getting attached to it.
This is a song that sticks with you for hours or even days after it's ended and is clearly performed and written by someone who has an absolute love for her craft and when I say that, I don't just mean singing or playing guitar.
I mean the craft of songwriting and putting something together that is released into the world and has some sort of impact on people who listen to it.
